Clock Tower
Painter, Photoshop
August 2009

A few years ago I happened to visit the Russian Vyborg. I was astonished by the atmosphere of this old, almost ruined town and I loved the architecture.
I liked the Clock Tower most. I could spend hours walking around it, climbing on the top of the tower from time to time, getting the stretched view of the town's red roofs. And each time I was walking up the stairs of the old clock tower, it seemed to me that I was able to hear the flapping of the wings, as if a flock of pigeons was flying away from me. But there actually were no pigeons in the tower. And once I would descend the tower and raise my head, the following picture was emerging in my imagination:
A strange disheveled man was standing on the top of the tower, making the pigeons rush off in fear, and trying to catch one of them at the same time. He could never catch the elusive prey, as the doves were flying away from the tower. Attempting to catch at least one of them, the man was bending over the handrails in a disturbingly dangerous way.
I was the only one to enjoy this vision so I photographed this misterious building that I'd liked so much. I decided that one day I would be able to paint the vision that I'd seen. The time has come...
