I already have Painter 12! I really love working with oils. Week ago I've started to work with new brushes, and that's what I got as the result. This is my first picture done in this version of Painter.
I think that life should dictate style to the artist's, and not vice versa. I mean that matter usually dictate to the manner in my case. I can see someone's appearance in the impressionistic style, but appearance of others seems to me closer to the artworks of old masters.
I set myself a very difficult task in this portrait. I wanted to convey the mood without resorting to superfluous effects and details. So I was guided by the portraits by Hans Holbein the Younger. I've always liked the subtlety and elegance of his drawings. I admired how he could fill the form in the light without using a contrasting light and shade. I was inspired by transparency and lightness of his works. And I'd like to become closer to his manner in this picture. Because I associate this model with tenderness primarily.
